Jayesh Kattla, PhD - Training and Research

Current Area of Interest

I am a senior postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training, Dublin. One of my main roles within the group is coordinating NIBRT’s glycobiology education and training program. I am involved in teaching and organizing glycobiology standalone courses with a main focus on lectures and practical sessions addressing the applications to biopharmaceutical production. I am also an active member and Co-Chair of the Training supervisory board within the EuroGlycanArray training network, Project 215536, (Marie-curie’s Intial Training Network under FP7 “People” Work Programe. My current research work includes:

  • Development and optimization of methodologies for Plant N-glycan analysis, beta testing of innovative products to facilitate glycan analysis, and technology transfer.
  • Development of proprietary databases for plant glycans.
  • To explore the differential glycosylation patterns on glycoproteins observed in human diseases such as Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY).
  • Glycosylation in colon cancer.
  • Glycosylation of plasma proteins from Neonates.
  • Understanding the influence of complex genetic regulation and other environmental factors on protein glycosylation.
